Dear [REDACTED],

Thank you for contacting me about the Attorney General’s role in the investigation of possible Russian interference in the 2016 election. I appreciate you taking the time to share your views and comments with me.

During his confirmation hearing before the United States Senate, Attorney General Jeff Sessions said he would recuse himself from political issues if appropriate. I was pleased to see that, on March 2, he announced that he would, indeed, recuse himself from this particular investigation. His actions avoid any appearance of conflicts in this serious matter being investigated. It is also important that the Attorney General clarify any misconceptions from his confirmation hearing regarding his conversations with Russian officials leading up to the 2016 presidential election.

Thank you again for contacting me. It is a privilege to serve you in the Tenth District. I may also be contacted at my Sterling office at 703-404-6903, or my Washington, D.C. office at 202-225-5136.
